The Style Diva - Kareena Kapoor Khan

Today, Mrs. Kareena Kapoor Khan is amongst the top stars in Bollywood, loved for her talent, beauty and her style. But it’s taken a long while for the actress to reach where she is. Here’s a look at her journey from frizzy-haired blonde girl to the perfectly put together starlet with lioness eyes.

Kareena Kapoor began her Bollywood career with Refugee, a movie where she portrayed a teenager drifting between Pakistan and India. What set this fresh face apart from her successful older sister Karishma was her strong jaw line and that bleach-blonde hair that was to become her signature look for years to come.

Kareena’s early appearances had her looking every bit the girl-next-door, in jeans and T-shirts, chunky belts and even bell bottoms.

When she wore ethnic ensembles, they were usually styled much too extensively, adding unnecessary bulk to her frame.

A most unflattering look that Kareena adopted during this phase was the dark-lip-liner-with-light-lipstick combo. Paired with her voluminous golden hair, the effect drowned her natural beauty out completely. The bold lips stole attention from her razor sharp cheekbones, and her over-bleached hair dominated her complete look.

Kareena’s style took a turn for the glamorous when the actress began preparations for her role in action film Tashan. The actress wowed the world with her new size zero body which then became a trend, and gave it a wardrobe to match. Her new body even earned her the Sony Vaio campaign for its range of slim laptops.

After the size zero craze diminished and Kareena Kapoor began dating her now husband Saif Ali Khan, the weight came back but the dressing sense stayed put. Sleek evening gowns wrapped in glitter or block colours and printed dresses are regular picks.

The actress began to experiment with shorter hemlines, tighter silhouettes extravagant evening gowns with heels.

The star’s style has come so far, she even had a book launched recently dedicated to her fashion sense. “Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva” tracks the actress’s many looks, her diet tips and her entire style journey.

One of her personal favorite ensembles is the sari, and she never tires of Manish Malhotra.
